BCMax Validation Checks

A new validation tool has been implemented with BCMax version 3.5.100+. The validation does up to 7 different checks when BCMax is opened. These validations either alert BCMax Support that a task isn't running such as Database Backup or the Email/Fax is closed or does general maintenance such as merge log files or check to ensure the Anti Virus Software isn't scanning the BCM Directories.

A breakdown of each validation task is as follows:

  1. CheckINIFileForDuplicates - this will check the max.ini for duplicate entries and a warning message will automatically be sent to the Support Department to rectify.
  2. CheckForAVScanBCMax - this will put a 'false positive' virus file (av_test_file.txt) into the BCM/GLMax Directory. If the virus software detects the file the virus software is scanning the BCM/GLMax Directories therefore these directories need to be excluded from the Virus Scanning during business hours.
  3. CheckForDBBackup - (this requires manual setup by Support) - the validation checks to ensure a backup file exists from the last 3 days. If there is not a file as recent as the last 3 days the Support department will get an automatic message sent to check the database backup task, .bat file and destination are correct and running as scheduled. The Database backup check is for MySQL only.
  4. CheckEFServer - (this requires manual setup by Support) the check will send a warning to the Support Department if the EFServer is not running. (MaxCommunication is dealt with via schedule task).
  5. ClearOldLocks - This will clear any locks that BCMax has made are invalid.
  6. MoveOldLogs - This is housekeeping of the LOGS Folder, the system will refile/rename the logs as per the following example. BCMaxUserOldLogs or MaxEditorUserOldLogs.
  7. PureOldLogs - Logs over 100 days old will be deleted.

How often do the checks run? Each check can be allocated a frequency, they are as follows:

  • Daily - The system will do a validation check when the 1st user goes into BCMax - One check only per day.
  • Always - The system will do a validation check every time a user goes into BCMax.

Note: Batch jobs such as Banking or Uploads do not invoke these validation checks.
